Acadian Pride Luxurious Laundry Detergent

By Shannon Saintes
on March 30, 2017

Everyone we talk to loves the idea of buying local.  And why not?  It enriches the life blood of our economy by supporting local artists and entrepreneurs which in turn enriches our community.  Well, we've recently begun a new love affair with Acadian Pride Laundry Detergent. ALL of us are hooked. I personally feel that this detergent has made doing laundry, a chore I often despise, a not so terrible task. Named "Luxurious" by design and rightfully so, this amazing laundry detergent enchants the senses and is long lasting with such high quality ingredients that it will have you hooked too.  Wash your sheets, towels, bath mats, anything at all that you want to surround you with amazingness...because that's what this stuff is going to do!

Meet the owners of Acadian Pride, Cherie and Trent, and help us congratulate them on a product well made.

From the Acadian Pride website:

Cherie Gartland- Co-Owner/ Product Director

Cherie has over twenty years experience as an analytical and formulating chemist in the energy industry.  In 2009, she began formulating premium fragrances into affordable consumer products.  She sold Festival International, Picking Figs and River Ranch Luxurious Laundry Detergent to friends and family, but could not meet the overwhelming demand.

Trent Templet- Owner/ President

Trent joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1997. During his service, he completed 4 combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. After 16 years of honorable service, he retired to Terrebonne Parish and served as a Deputy Sheriff. He partnered with Cherie Gartland to resurrect the Luxurious Laundry Detergent line and form Acadian Pride Fragrance Co. LLC.

The New Sadie Robertson Collection

By Shannon Saintes
on November 27, 2015

The new Sadie Robertson Live Original Collection by Glory Haus features beautiful home decor products and jewelry that encourages, inspires and uplifts teens and adults alike to ‘Live Original’.

Well-known for her role on the wildly popular television shows – A&E’s Duck Dynasty, and her recent appearance on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars - Sadie has captivated audiences with her girl-next-door modern charm, authenticity, and high values. Known for her dimples and engaging smile, Sadie has the quick wit of her dad, Willie, and the Southern grace of her mother, Korie. Living as a culturally relevant teen who loves God and her family, Sadie has become a role model for other teens and for parents who are eager to instill the same characteristics in their children.  We love Sadie and all of her ideals.  With that being said, it's only natural that we would want to offer her collection to you and to inspire the daughters of Louisiana and beyond.  We hope you enjoy these beautifully inspiring gifts.

on September 23, 2015

Finally the days will grow shorter as the nights grow long. The wonder of crisp cold air and the smell of neighboring fires will soon fill the night sky. This is the time of year so many of us treasure. Soon we will disguise ourselves for the fun of Halloween spooking and get cozy in layers of scarves and the colors of Fall. We will give our thanks. And before we know it, we will prepare our homes for the joy of Christmas all while reminiscing those sweet memories of old which bring the promise of new memories to be made in the new year. And when it is all said and done, we will spend the rest of the year waiting for it to begin again.
Welcome Fall!

Share with us your favorite Fall traditions.  What is it you or your family enjoy most about this season?  Or better yet, sit back, sip your hot cocoa and enjoy shopping our Halloween Collection.  All items specially chosen by the decor guru herself, my friend Kristie.

Honoring Life

By Shannon Saintes
on September 11, 2015

How do you deal with senseless acts of violence? Do you ignore it and move on or do you go at it with full force?

I choose to talk to God.

I remember September 11, 2001 in great detail. I remember where I was and what I was doing and everything that was going on around me when I saw the news. I stood there in horror as the 2nd plane hit the South Tower. My husband and I were able to visit the 9/11 Memorial last month and felt very raw emotions but ultimately a sense of peace in being able to pay our respects to the victims of that tragic day.

A few years ago as I'm waiting to pick up my children in car rider line at school, I learned of the elementary school shooting in Connecticut.
I lost it. I thought, "What if that happened here!?" My tears flowed and I broke down. It's hard to come to terms with violence and the inability to protect my children through all circumstances. You see, I don't want to be an overprotective parent. I want my children to explore and discover and experience the world. I don't want to stop them from realizing their full potential, but what a fine line to walk when I also want to protect them from all the bad that is out there. I resolved that day that it was up to God. I'm helpless without Him and all I have is prayer.

That's what we teach our children. They are better because of it. We don't cover up what goes on in the world, we don't over-expose it either, but we inform them to a certain extent and answer their questions. They will be the first to tell you that we don't have all of the answers. But they know that God does and that He is with us.

And then it happens here. In our town. To our people.
And it affects us all.
Now I know that everyone is different and that people deal with tragedy and loss their own way and I respect that. But I have to share that my choice to leave it in God's hands is continuously reinforced. That day in particular, I'm pretty sure he talked back. I think He does all of the time if we are quiet enough to listen. Here's what happened.
We started a conversation with a supplier from Medugorje for St. Benedict bracelets for the store. Like most Catholics, I consider Medugorje the Mecca of miracles. In fact I am completely mystified by the wonder of it all. Our conversation began in the month of July and was ongoing through the media coverage. They offered to pray over our bracelets.
We've ordered lots of things for the store but never have we had a supplier pray over the merchandise for strength and healing for our community.

And the comment, "Stay Strong" is what I honed into. It was God's reinforcement that all of this is in His hands.
STRONG--It's what we as a community adopted as our mantra. #LafayetteStrong

Library of Flowers

By Shannon Saintes
on September 04, 2015

Here's something I will no longer live without.

We have discovered Library of Flowers!  More importantly, we're head over heals in love with their Perfumed Creme.  This stuff is tripled layered, meaning it has three levels of wonderful perfumed aromas that will entice your senses all day long.  And it is so amazingly creamy with a light texture that is non-greasy and absorbs into the skin instantly.

So let me tell you how we happened upon these little jars of heaven.

Kristie and I were at market, and as always, like crazy women, we're running through showrooms trying to conquer our insurmountable To-Do list when we realize we're probably going to be late for our flight.  We decide to get the job done anyway and run through the last showroom where this new line by Margot Elena catches our eye.  We've always loved their sister line, Lollia, and carry it in the store.  Library of Flowers looks appealing, but for now there's no time and we keep going.  As we finish up with our orders, papers are flying in and out of bags and we're trying to organize - emphasis on the word "trying" - I realize we've missed our flight and we have that terrible panic attack moment.  Both of us do.  When we rush to get out the door the representative for this line throws us each a sample and we shove it in our purses and head out the door into a cab and off to the airport.

Fast forward one week--  I'm in California for a training and at some point I find myself digging through my purse for chapstick and lotion because this Louisiana girl doesn't do well in dry climates.  Well what do I find…yep, it's my Library of Flowers cream.  The girl sitting next to me begins to complement how wonderful my perfume smells and she won't stop going on and on about it so I take notice.  Just like anything new, positive reinforcement like that makes you take a second look.  So I begin to text Kristie that we should consider bringing in some of this stuff to the store when she beats me to it with a text message.  Her message has a bunch of housekeeping stuff for the store and then there at the bottom she asks me if I've had a chance to try my Library of Flowers sample.  She lets me know that she tried hers and just can't get enough of it.  She even found a new home for it on her bathroom vanity next to all of the other essentials because of how much she loves it.

It wasn't only that girl sitting next to me who complemented how great I smelled, complements happen every time I wear it.  And the beauty of this perfumed creme is that you can apply as little or as much as you want.  You can mix it in with other lotions or use it alone.  It's versatile in that way and it seems to me to change as the day wears on without giving me a headache.  Quite the contrary, it is so inviting that I have caught myself sniffing my own skin :0

Here's what their website has to say about it:

The Art of Perfume Delivery Reimagined. A triple-scented perfume alternative,
the Parfum Crema is a modern interpretation of parfum intended to be worn
in place of traditional fragrance.

To Enjoy:
With three times the fragrance of our Eau de Parfums, a dab (or two!) of Parfum Crema can be worn alone as perfume. For an overall body experience, layer on our extra-moisturizing Coco Butter Handcreme.

As seen in the "O, Beautiful!" feature – O, The Oprah Magazine, April 2013.

Summer 2015

By Shannon Saintes
on June 11, 2015

I want so badly to be a regular blogger on our site.  I really do.  Running a storefront, website, family and personal life leave little room for anything else, much less a noteworthy blog.  So instead of being a regular blogger, I've settled into the idea of posting every now and then.  Maybe that will keep the information pertinent and interesting and less forced.  So here we go…..

Kristie and I are going to market at the end of the month and we are both so thrilled.  Our amazing reps have been calling the store to set up appointments and our calendar is already booked.  It's going to be so much fun and we will be bursting at the seams with new stuff to share when we return.

We haven't waited for the upcoming gift market to get new items in though.  Recently we have teamed up with a new artist who does fun and beautiful work on wine glasses.  We haven't been able to add her items to our site yet but we're working on it (see above).  Here's a peak at some of the items we've brought in.  She is also doing UL and LSU glassware for us so if you're around the store, make sure and stop in.

We also have had the honor of working with Ms. Sallie Bynum.  She's a Baton Rouge artist who creates cool works for gift stores and we have had the privilege of adding many of her items to our product offering.  These are both available in the store as well as online.

This week has been quite a blur for me.  I am not the kind of person who can sit still for more than a few minutes and I've logged in many hours in front of the computer updating our site over the last few days.  We are trying so hard not to over order items because bringing so much back from market is hard to do when you only have 1600 sq ft of space to work with.  It's hard to do, but we're trying.  I have however managed to add quite a few new items to our online store.  If you don't know about sublimation, its a cool process that utilizes heat and pressure to personalize a product.  We've added a great assortment of sublimation products from phone cases and phone stands to pet tags.  Make sure and give them a look see.  Also, don't miss out on the new back to school products that just hit.  They're all adorable.  Have a happy summer from all of us at Lolli & Bop!

Ring in 2015

on January 09, 2015

It is truly a blessing to be business owners in South Louisiana and to give back to the community that we have known and loved our whole lives. Without you, our wonderful customers, we would have never been able to grow and learn as much as we have since opening our doors two years ago. That being said, 2015 holds the promise of change and prosperity that we have yet to realize, but we are open minded and ready--bring it.

Kristie and I leave for market this week and are excited about the new undiscovered products that we will be able to bring home to Lolli & Bop. It is our goal to find and add the latest trending products, especially those with added value like Made in the USA, eco sustainable, multi-use products, etc. Our ears and hearts are always open, if there is something that you would like to see us carry that we currently do not have, please call it to our attention. We entertain all suggestions, and pride ourselves on offering customer driven products and services. It is what makes us unique and it is how we will continue to thrive. Thank you again for a wonderful 2014 and God bless you and your loved ones in 2015 and beyond.

2014 Lolli & Bop Holiday Gift Guide

By Shannon Saintes
on November 21, 2014

We're making it easier for you to shop this holiday season with our first ever Lolli & Bop Holiday Gift Guide.  We hope you enjoy browsing our personal selections for this gift giving season, and please leave comments on our blog.  Happy holiday's ya'll!

  • Ladies

Just about anything beautiful can fit in here, but we wanted to get a little more specific because we know how daunting finding just the right gift can be.  Are you buying for someone you feel already has everything?  Don't worry, knowing what not to get is sometimes more important than knowing what to get.  So here are a few things that make Kristie and I happy and hopefully will make the special lady in your life happy too.

Of course jewelry is a great go-to gift and the holidays are a good reason to find something a bit more special.  You don't have to go out and spend a fortune on diamonds or jewels. Finding a gorgeous handmade piece that's not your run of the mill jewelry is where We Dream in Colour fits in. Jade Gedeon started the label in 2002.  She is a US native raised in Trinidad and has interpreted her worldly influences into her art.  All of her elegantly refined, witty and surprising jewelry is USA made and will definitely stand out from the crowd.  Here are few examples (very limited quantities are available):

We LOVE Lollia.  This line has been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings and Brides magazine, and is well known for being one of Oprah’s favorite things.  You don't need to take our word for it when ladies like Oprah and Martha have already spoken on the matter.  The packaging is breathtaking and the products are amazing.
  • Men

Ok.. I'm not too afraid to admit it.  Even as a gift store owner, I have had my own challenges with finding the right guy gift on more than a few occasions. However, if you're not running off to the big box retailers and want to get something a little different we think this is a good start.

Know any guys that remind you of bulls in a china shop? Don't worry about broken glass again! These glasses are made from food-safe polymer, perfect indoor and outdoor use, such as the beach, poolside, picnic, or even weddings!

Here's a nice gift idea for transporting food or drink and showing your southern charm.  These Fleur de Lis Rolling Coolers make great gifts and are perfect for the Saints fan.  We have great LSU and UL gifts too!

And for fun, or just a great stocking stuffer, why not try a great product from Poo-Pourri?  A few squirts into the bowl before-you-go forms a protective layer of essential oils that prevents bathroom odors from getting out.  Men (and their wives) seem to love the idea of Trap-A-Crap, or Master Crapsmen.  Trust us, this stuff really works.

  • Home

Buying someone a gift for the home is safe as long as it is a consumable item like a candle or bath soaps.  In fact, this is the exact gift category we recommend when someone is buying for an acquaintance or someone they just met.  We suggest you stay away from more permanent gifts like frames or artwork unless you know the person quite well and are certain they would like to receive something that requires them to add to their existing decor.

Candles emit scents that can be thought provoking, soothing or relaxing.  Our senses love nice scents so why not take advantage of including a candle in your gift repertoire this year.  We are going crazy over our newest obsession, Bourbon Royalty.  This Baton Rouge based company is pouring 100% Soy candles with wonderfully constructed scents like Orleans Tea, Back Porch and Zydeco Amber.  They have just released their newest Noel this year which has been very popular.  See more by clicking on the picture.

If you are looking for home decor, check out these fabulous table runners from Mud Pie.  They are a beautiful burlap that is neutral in color and come already personalized (bonus!) with a large block letter in black surrounded by a double circle frame.

  • Baby

Babies are so fun to shop for.  There are so many cute gifts out there full of whimsy, frill and even function.  We have a plethora of baby gifts from cutesy to heirloom and can monogram any of your gifts for a personal touch.  Some things just catch your attention more than others, here are some of our favorite things.

Haute Baby is a clothing designer based in Houston, TX.  We adore their thoughtful and inspiring designs as well as the fact that they are a home grown business.

Bottle pets are too cute.  They are super soft and function to keep the baby's bottle well insulated.  Check all of them out by clicking here.

  • Tween

Tween gifts are absolutely gratifying to give, especially when you know you found just the right gift.  Natural Life has an inspiring niche of products that girls want to be associated with.  We always see young girls that come in the store shopping with there moms and it never fails, they always gravitate towards our Natural Life displays. The company uses pattern and color like no other and we absolutely love their message to our youth.  A post from their site reads, "Living a natural life is about finding your passion, being yourself, doing what you love, and enjoying the little things in life that mean the most!"  We couldn't agree more.  See our favorite Natural Life gifts by clicking the photo below.

Or try these out for the girl that likes to make her own designs.

And for the young men why not give these a try.

Guys and gals will be inspired and enlightened by this New York Times Bestseller.  From the creator of Safari comes Ocean, both wonderful photicular books that will take your breath away.
